THE AROMA OF GOD’S WISDOM – EXPLORING THE ART OF HOMAGE

proverbs

PAYING HOMAGE

 Human wisdom has limitations.

Christ is the wisdom of God.

God’s ‘foolishness’ surpasses the height of human wisdom.

The wisdom of God is depicted in the message of the cross (Significance of the cross- shame less)

They thought they had overpowered Christ, but our salvation was wrapped in it.

The rejection of the message of the cross is equal to self destruction God can destroy the wisdom of man.

1 Cor 2:14 “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, but he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned”.

SLEEPLESS NIGHTS ON WHO GOD IS

Overtime I have battled with so many questions concerning the existence of God. I was brought up in a Christian family, but I still couldn’t understand who God was. I struggled with this and as a result the worries of life started weighing me down. The hits of life were ready to take me down and I started searching for answers. I wanted to know my purpose, wanted to learn from my mistakes and I also wanted to grow as a person.

What did I do? I started dwelling more in God’s presence, I allowed him to take charge. I ripped up the list I created for myself and allowed God to lead the way. Sometimes I still find myself in other confusion, but I never stop learning. I never stop searching for God’s knowledge in his word. Why?

PROVERBS TEACHING

Because according to Proverbs chapter 1:1-7 there are benefits of God’s wisdom that we have been missing out on and the solution is to;

  1. Attain wisdom and discipline.
  2. Understand words of insight.
  3. Acquire disciplined and prudent life.
  4. Doing what is right, just, and fair.
  5. Giving prudence to the simple Knowledge and discretion to the young.

All of these are the benefits of God’s wisdom. The question is how will I attain all of these?

SOLUTION

I knew that I had to listen and add to my learning by getting guidance, understanding proverbs, parables and the sayings and riddles of the wise. All of these made me understand that “The fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge”. I immediately concluded that my “human wisdom” has failed me so many times and will continue to fail me if I depend solely on it and not on God’s wisdom.
